The mission of the Library & Resource Center is to support and enhance the educational process at the institution, and to support the professional development and research needs of faculty and students. Accessibility of current, relevant resources for users is the guiding mission in establishing all policies and procedures, in budgeting, and in decision-making.
DEFINITION
The Library & Resource Center (LRC) is a library serving all academic programs that are provided at the institution. The LRC houses the print collection of reference books, print journals, and media titles. It is the central location for access and distribution of a broad range of databases and web-based resources that are accessible on computers in the LRC or at any location in the institution. The LRC provides a quiet environment for study or research, and is staffed by knowledgeable and trained professionals.
GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING THE LIBRARY & RESOURCE CENTER PROGRAM
Each Library & Resource Center (LRC) is managed by a Librarian with a Master of Library Science or a Master of Library and Information Science earned from an ALA-accredited institution in accordance with the guidelines of accrediting bodies that provide accreditation to degree granting programs and the Academic College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Statement on the Certification & Licensing of Academic Librarians. This Librarian is titled Library Manager. The Librarian is an integral part of the life of the school – participating in faculty meetings, outreach, education, management, serving on the Simulation Committee, assisting students during remediation, and acting as a CampusVue portal contact due to centrality of the LRC activities. The Library Manager reports to the Director of Education, and on a dotted line basis, to the National LRC Director.
All Library & Resource Centers are members of the Consortium of Education Affiliates Libraries.
